- FEP provides a very smooth, easy-clean surface with broad chemical resistance. It is the most common choice for FEP coated seals and suits hygiene focused environments and general chemical processing.
- ETFE adds toughness where abrasion or handling wear is expected. It is often selected when cords will be routed through tighter paths or see frequent removal and refit.
- PFA provides a higher temperature margin while maintaining near universal chemical resistance. It is a practical choice if the seal location experiences elevated process temperatures.

Sizes, profiles, and specials
Holscot reels cover outside diameters from 3 mm to 30 mm. Common round sizes are stocked regularly, with non-round or irregular profiles produced to order. If your design uses a keyed profile to stabilise the seal in its groove, share the profile drawing and groove details and we will confirm the recommended jacket thickness, tolerance band, and reel length for efficient cutting. Continuous runs are produced to suit your forecast usage so you can minimise changeovers and keep stores simple.
Cutting and joining on site
Creating a ring from continuous cord is straightforward with a square cut and a controlled joint.
- Cut square with a sharp blade or fine saw to maintain full face contact at the joint.
- Use a simple alignment jig during bonding or fusion to keep the ends in plane.
- Choose a joining method suited to your core elastomer and operating conditions. Many users select an adhesive compatible with the elastomer core. For higher pressure or temperature windows, thermal fusion or a mechanical joiner may be appropriate.
- After cure or set, carry out a quick pressure or leak check before release to service.
