Vacuum Formings in FEP, PFA and ETFE

Custom vacuum formed components for demanding chemical, thermal and clean environments

Discuss your requirements with an expert today

Holscot supplies precision vacuum formed fluoropolymer components in FEP, PFA and ETFE, supporting customers who require reliable material performance, controlled forming and practical technical input.

Whether you need a simple formed part, repeat production components, small development samples or a more complex geometry, we can help you select the right material and supply it in a form that is easier to integrate into your application.

We regularly support both new developments and existing components, including parts currently sourced elsewhere.

Forming Capability

Holscot offers vacuum forming across a wide and flexible processing range:
  • Materials: FEP, PFA and ETFE
  • Wall thickness: typically 0.01 mm through to 2.3 mm+
  • Form size: typically 50 mm up to ~700 mm
  • Material grades: industrial and premium (including higher purity options where required)

Availability depends on material type, grade, forming depth, geometry and production volume. For repeat requirements, we can review production routes, tooling approach and future call-off demand.

Typical Component Types

We support a wide range of formed fluoropolymer components, including:
  • Trays, liners and containment parts
  • Covers, housings and protective forms
  • Lens caps and protective covers
  • Diaphragms and flexible formed components
  • Complex 3D shapes converted from film or sheet
  • Lightweight structural or protective components

Lens caps, diaphragms and similar formed parts are a particular area where fluoropolymers offer a strong combination of chemical resistance, flexibility and cleanliness, especially in technical and controlled environments.

Why Vacuum Forming?

Vacuum forming allows fluoropolymer films and sheets to be heated and shaped into consistent 3D geometries using relatively simple tooling.
In practical terms, this offers customers:
  • Lower tooling cost compared to injection moulding
  • Faster development and prototyping
  • Flexible design options for complex shapes
  • Repeatable production for ongoing supply

This makes vacuum forming a useful route where a customer needs a functional component rather than raw film, without the cost or lead times of more complex moulding processes.

Material Options

FEP Formings

A practical and widely used option where customers need:
  • Chemical resistance
  • Non-stick / low friction surfaces
  • Good clarity and flexibility
  • Reliable forming behaviour

FEP is often selected for protective covers, liners, lens caps and general-purpose formed components.

PFA Formings

Used where the application is more demanding:
  • Higher temperature capability
  • Higher purity environments
  • Semiconductor, pharmaceutical or chemical processes
  • More critical performance requirements

PFA is often considered for diaphragms, high-performance liners and clean process components.

ETFE Formings

A strong choice where mechanical performance matters:
  • Tough, durable material
  • Good impact and abrasion resistance
  • Chemical and weather resistance
  • Structural or protective applications

ETFE is often used where parts need to resist handling, impact or harsher operating conditions.

Integration with Film & Conversion Capabilities

Vacuum forming sits alongside our wider fluoropolymer processing capability.
Customers often combine forming with:
  • Precision cut film and sheet
  • Die-cut or punched components
  • Welded film assemblies
  • Etched surfaces for bonding
  • Prototype and development samples

This allows us to support multi-stage components, such as:
  • Formed parts combined with flat sealing faces
  • Diaphragms integrated with cut or welded features
  • Protective systems combining formed and flat elements

Industrial and Premium Grade Options

Not every application requires the same material specification.
Holscot supports:

Industrial Grade

  • Suitable for a wide range of general engineering, chemical and industrial uses
  • Balance of performance and cost

Premium Grade

  • Used where purity, surface finish or consistency is more critical
  • Often selected for semiconductor, medical or precision applications

Material selection is always dependent on the specific application and should be reviewed accordingly.

Typical Applications

Vacuum formed fluoropolymer components are used across a wide range of industries:
  • Semiconductor and clean process equipment
  • Chemical processing and containment
  • Aerospace and defence
  • Medical and life sciences
  • Industrial handling and protection systems
  • Lighting and optical protection
  • Battery, EV and hydrogen systems

They are particularly relevant where customers need:
  • Chemical resistance
  • Low contamination risk
  • Temperature stability
  • Durable, non-stick surfaces

Existing Parts – Review & Re-Quote

If you currently purchase vacuum formed fluoropolymer parts:
  • Send us your drawing, sample or specification
  • We can cross-quote where appropriate
  • And review opportunities to improve:
    • Cost
    • Lead time
    • Material choice
    • Consistency of supply

We regularly support customers looking for a more responsive or technically engaged supplier.

New Developments

If you are developing a new component, Holscot can support:
  • Early-stage feasibility and material selection
  • Prototype formings and development parts
  • Scaling into repeat production

We focus on solutions that are practical, commercially viable and repeatable.
