Costa Levigatrici

Background

Costa Levigratici in Italy have developed the Costa Drying System (CDS) for APS Putty Application Lines. It uses innovative inert curing equipment to level and dry UV filler in putty application lines.

Problem

In the manufacture of natural wooden flooring, the inevitable knotholes and cavities need to be filled and the surface of the wooden flooring needs to be smooth. Manufacturers overcome this by the application of UV filler putty which penetrates the cavities. However, it is important that the putty is applied smoothly and evenly and does not leave a build up on the applicator.

Solution

Manufacturers have found that the ideal solution is by using an FEP Belt as the applicator. Holscot uses its own self manufactured FEP film, welded into a continuous belt using Holscot’s proprietary butt-welding process which leaves a virtually imperceptible weld. In most cases the belts are 1350mm width with a length of over 3.6m. The thickness of the belts is 0.3mm. The Holscot belts have only one weld.
